Money worries

We're here to help

We understand that circumstances can change. Unexpected events come along that might affect your ability to repay your loan.

If you find yourself in this position, we have options to help you get back on track. For example, we may be able to offer a payment arrangement or time to seek independent help.

It can be beneficial to complete an income and expenditure to help you:

  • Assess your monthly income, your outgoing bills and living costs.
  • Outline all your creditors.
  • Assess how much disposable income you have to make affordable repayments to your V12 Retail Finance agreement.

If you would like to discuss this with us on the phone, complete it online, or in writing, then let us know. Our dedicated experts will work with you to find a solution that's right for your individual situation.

Priority debts and essential living expenses

You should ensure you can afford any arrangement you agree to. You must pay your most important debts and other essential living expenses first.

Important debts are sometimes called 'priority debts', and they include mortgages, rent, and council tax.

These can be debts or bills that, if not paid, could make you homeless (rent or mortgage), leave you without access to services you need to live (electricity and gas), or bills for which creditors might use extra powers to obtain payment.

You must ensure you can afford other essential living expenses, such as food and utility bills. Essential living expenses may be different for you than they are for someone else.

If your circumstances make managing your finances difficult, we have a specialist team that can offer you support and a tailored approach to monitoring your accounts. Please see Support for Individual Circumstances.

Several independent organisations offer free, impartial advice on dealing with debt.

Speaking to a trained and experienced debt advisor can help you see what the best decision for you might be.

The benefits that a debt adviser can offer include:

  • giving you advice on better ways of managing your money
  • checking to see if there are any benefits or entitlements you may be able to claim
  • telling you about the ways of dealing with debts that are open to you
  • keeping everything you tell them confidential

A number of organisations can also deal with your creditors directly on your behalf.
